On Monday, comics fans cheered after Disney announced it was moving the release date of Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man up by three months to July 31, 2015.
However, some of the investors are a bit worried that with the already big summer season this might be a bit of a bad idea. It will also force Ant-Man and Man of Steel 2 to go head to head, which already brought in $661 million in gross box-office receipts worldwide. Ant-Man may get some comic fans curiosity running but it still has to show why it’s worth their wild and money to see it. So I think this could be a challenge for Marvel to do.
On a side note, Disney announced that they were pushing back the release of Pirates 5, blaming script issues for the delay as producer Jerry Bruckheimer stated he was hopeful the film would be ready for the summer of 2016. Then lets not forget that Marvel is also planning a May 2015 release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, the predecessor for which more than doubled the original Man of Steel‘s impressive box-office take by pulling in a gross of nearly $1.512 billion. (That’s a nice way of saying The Avengers put the smack down on Man of Steels ass.)
Am I the only one that feels like I’m stuck in a comic war here? I mean its like what do I do? Do I go see Ant-Man? Do I go see Man of Steel 2? The Avengers 2? Let me tell you what this Fangirl is going to do the same thing I do every Friday, try to take over the world..
